The Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Grants for Employers remains closed to new applications. Funding claims from previously agreed grants need to be submitted by 1st December 2017. Funding claims after this date will be viewed as ‘expired’ and will not be considered as eligible.

This online registration form is for providers to register Apprenticeship Starts for the Liverpool City Region AGE grant.
The Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship grants are available to all Liverpool City Region based Small to Medium Sized Business employing Apprentices aged 16 to 24 who have not recruited a new Apprentice in the last 6 months. Public sector bodies who are subject to the new apprenticeship targets may allow apply for the grant.
The Liverpool City Region grant is available for eligible apprentices who started their apprenticeship between 1 August 2016 and 31 July 2017, subject to affordability. Applications may now also be made (including retrospectively) up until 31 July 2017 for Apprenticeship starts during the period from 13 October 2016 to 1 January 2017 when AGE 16-24 was closed to applications.
Employers are required to pay Apprentices the National Minimum Wage for an employee’s age in order to be eligible for the grant.
Grants will support Apprenticeship Frameworks rather than new Standards or Trailblazers where other Apprenticeship incentives are included in the programme.
What grants are available?
- £3,000 could be available to SMEs recruiting 16-18 year old Apprentices who have not recruited a new Apprentice in the last 6 months;
- £2,500 could be available to SMEs recruiting 19-24 year old Apprentices who have not recruited a new Apprentice in the last 6 months;
- An additional £1,000 bonus could be available to SMEs recruiting Advanced or Higher Apprentices.
In a change to the previous expression of interest process – Apprentices should have started with the employer in order to submit a registration form for the grant.
